Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup water
1 cup butter
2 cups peanuts
1 teaspoon soda

Directions

  1. Butter 2 baking sheets, set aside.

  2. Combine sugar, syrup and water.

  3. Cook and stir until sugar dissolves.

  4. Bring to boil and add butter.

  5. Stir frequently after it reaches 230 degrees.

  6. Add peanuts at soft crack (280 degrees).

  7. Stir constantly until it reaches hard crack (305 degrees).

  8. Remove from heat quickly and stir in 1 teaspoon soda, mix thoroughly.

  9. Pour onto prepared baking sheets.

  10. Cool and break by tapping with a knife handle.
