Ingredients
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups sifted cake flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk
Frosting:
2 cups confectioner's sugar
light cream
dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease 2 8 inch round cake pans or a Bundt pan.
Combine shortening, salt, and vanilla extract. Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
Sift flour and baking powder together three times.
Add small amount of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan(s).
Bake for 25 minutes for round pans or 45 minutes for Bundt pan.
For frosting:
Sift confectioner's sugar.
Add light cream to reach frosting consistency.
Add a dash of salt and vanilla extract.
Spread over cooled cake.
