Ingredients
225g/8 ounces self-rising flour
pinch salt
150g/5 ounces butter
100g/4 ounces caster sugar
1 egg, beaten
3 ready made icing tubes
40 chocolate drops
40 silver cake decorating balls
Directions
When ready to bake, preheat oven to gas mark 4.
Weigh all your ingredients, grease 2 baking trays.
Sift the salt and flour into a bowl, rub in the butter until mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
Add the sugar.
Mix in the beaten egg and knead into a smooth dough.
Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Roll out your dough fairly thinly.
Cut out about 30 cookies and place on the baking tray.
Prick with a fork.
Bake for 10- 15 minutes until golden brown, remove from oven and cool on a wire tray.
Use ready-made icing or make your own, by mixing icing sugar with warm water and food coloring, decorate with silver balls or chocolate drops. You could make patterns or write the initials of each friend coming for tea.
