6 Stuffed Peppers Gluten‑free, Good for parties/potlucks |
Ingredients
6 green peppers
1 pound finely shredded cheese
1 to 2 pounds ground beef
2 small cans tomato sauce
small onion finely chopped
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Brown ground beef and onion until completely cooked.
While meat is cooking, cut off the top of the peppers and remove the seeds and rinse the inside with cold water.
It will help if bottom of peppers are square, so trim some of the bottom off, careful not to cut off bottom completely.
Place peppers in a 13x9 baking dish, glass works best. The pan does need to be at least 2" deep.
Drain and rinse ground beef with hot water to get rid of excess grease.
Put ground beef in a large bowl and mix in a can and a half of the tomato sauce.
If you really like cheese, you can add some to mixture (may need more cheese if you do this).
Spoon mixture into peppers. Fill each pepper until just below the top.
Don't worry if you have extra, you can put it on bottom of pan.
Sprinkle as much cheese as you want on top of each pepper.
Into the remaining half can of sauce, add enough water to fill and pour in pan.
This will keep the bottoms of the peppers from burning.
Bake for 30-40 minutes.
