Ingredients
1 1/2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon salt
additional sugar
Directions
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar in a mixing bowl, add eggs and molasses, mixing well.
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, soda, salt and spices; sift together.
Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
Shape into 1/2 inch balls, roll in additional sugar.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 6 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.
